A signed 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie sold through Fanatics for $1,860,000, a new record for a Robinson card, past the $960,000 a 1952 Topps Robinson set at Goldin in 2021. The card came to light through an inheritance and is one of only five authenticated signed copies of the 1948 Leaf rookie known to exist, against 2,006 unsigned ones, graded PSA 1 with a PSA/DNA 8 autograph. SI Collectibles caught the same lot on July 18 at $800,000 across 51 bids, already a record for a signed Robinson at that point. Provenance and scarcity are doing the heavy lifting on a number like this.
