Bowman Chrome revives its WBC insert for Ohtani

Three of today's four card releases are already on shelves; the one still ahead, September 9, brings back a flag insert that has been out of the lineup since 2023, with Ohtani in it as card WBC-17.

The WBC Flag Variation pictures a player against his home country's flag, and Topps has brought it back for the 2026 World Baseball Classic after leaving it out of the set since 2023. Shohei Ohtani is card WBC-17, designated Japan. The autograph version of the insert is a 55-card checklist numbered to /26, with parallels running up to a SuperFractor numbered 1/1. The September 9 street date was already on the calendar; the insert is the new part.

2026 Panini Prizm Baseball goes on sale today, September 4, with a short-printed Manga insert new to the line

The standard hobby release is today; First Off The Line boxes went out August 25. The base set runs 300 cards, with Cherry Blossom and Lotus Flower Prizm parallels alongside new Laces and White Knight Prizms. Throwback Signatures borrow the autograph design from 2015-16 Prizm Basketball, and the short-printed Manga insert is making its first appearance in Prizm Baseball. We carried September 4 as a confirmed date back on August 19, so the news today is that it is a product you can actually buy.

Market Movers reports a $72,000 sale for an unused 2002 Finest Gold Refractor redemption card in PSA 10

Would you pay $72,000 for an unused redemption? That's exactly what one collector did for a PSA 10 2002 Finest Redemption Card Gold Refractor Draft Pick #1 /25. The reason? The No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft was, of course, LeBron James, making this one of the few unused Gold Refractor /25 redemptions from that year Cool collector piece, or less desirable because it's a redemption?

The card is a 2002-03 Topps Finest NBA Draft redemption for the #1 Draft Pick, Gold Refractor, numbered to 25 and never turned in for whatever it promised. That #1 slot is what ties it to LeBron James, the first pick of the 2003 draft, on a card that does not picture him. Market Movers puts the sale on Fanatics Collect at 69 bids.
