Bidding opened Friday September 5 and had already surpassed $2 million, a figure the report attributes to Sports Collectors Daily; the sale runs through September 24 and Alt declined to give a presale estimate. For scale, a Kobe and Michael Jordan dual logoman from the same era sold for $12.93 million through Heritage Auctions about a year ago, and that is still the record for any sports card.

I just ran a targeted fraud sweep and logged 50+ confirmed fake certificates into @CheckCOA, focusing on @PaniniAmerica and @TRISTAR1.
What jumped out immediately is how the Panini counterfeit pipeline is expanding: it's no longer just Kobe jerseys. Fraudsters are now faking oversized framed prints, like a 14x28 Luka Doncic photo with a bogus "#34/177" stamp ($600) and flooding the $300-$600 "mid-tier" market (Durant, Mbappe, Beckham, Morant) where buyers rarely expect forgeries.
The certificate cloning is out of control.
Take PA57308: we already had one fake logged in our database from Facebook, and right now THREE different @eBay sellers have separate active/sold listings using that exact same cert on three different physical jerseys ($981 sold, $6,000, and $19,999.99). The number checks out on Panini's lookup, but every single item is fake.
If you buy signed memorabilia in the $300 to $600 band, this is the part to sit with: the poster says the fakes have moved past Kobe jerseys into oversized framed prints and mid-tier stars, where nobody is expecting them. Every figure and every accusation here is his own, from his own database, and we have not checked CheckCOA, Panini's lookup, or the listings he references, so read it as a prompt to verify a certificate yourself rather than as a finding.
