Let's go back to where it all began. In 2022 Fanatics acquired Topps. Which gave the company a unique position to put all the moving parts together for this program.
Originally, the Debut Patch program originated in MLB in 2023. The NBA program for the Debut Patch was announced in October 2025, where every rookie wears one in their on-court debut. After the game the patches were removed from the jersey and went into a 1/1 autographed card.

Now let's zoom out a little bit and see which relationships Fanatics has closed for a similar program. World Cup football ended last month. The 48 teams playing the World Cup had different badges on their shirts. There were team badges and player badges.
Messi and Ronaldo played their sixth World Cup, and both of the players had a special badge for this for their shirt. Actually, the Mexican goalie Guillermo Ochoa was also playing his sixth.
For players making their debut in the World Cup, there was a special badge for their first time. Lamine Yamal made his debut and had a debut patch on his jersey.
FIFA signed an exclusive partnership with Fanatics starting in 2031. The patches worn at FIFA World Cup '26 are being held for the trading card program that kicks off in 2031. By that time, Lionel Messi will have retired, and Lamine Yamal will be a big star.
Who will be in the hunt for his debut patch autographed Topps trading card by then?
