T206 Piedmont-back Honus Wagner closes at $5.856 million at Heritage, per Auction Report
One of only three known Wagners with a Piedmont advertising back drew 53 bids plus registered phone bidders on August 21 in Heritage's Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction, closing at $5.856 million including the house's 22% buyer's premium. It carries an SGC Authentic designation rather than a numeric grade, because of evidence of trimming. Our August 23 report had it above $5.8 million with the bidding still open; this is the settled number. It was only the card's second public auction appearance.

A 1965 Topps Joe Namath rookie, #122 in CGC 6, tied a UDA-authenticated Michael Jordan-signed Bulls jersey at $5,015. This is the tier worth watching if the seven-figure headlines feel like another sport: real pre-war and rookie-year cardboard, changing hands in the mid four figures.
