The No. 1 pick sits behind Kirk Cousins in Week 1, and his Topps Flagship base card had already fallen 56% in August.

The Raiders start Kirk Cousins against Miami on Sunday, September 13, and GM John Spytek told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Mendoza's "time is coming, but he's got to earn it every day." Collector Nation had already flagged this exact scenario in August, with his 2026 Topps Flagship base card already down 56% from its opening-pull premium to $10.24 on 182 copies moved, and named September 9 as the date a starting job needed to land to stop the slide. Sports Collectors Digest had the base card under $10 by August 31, while signed and patch versions were still trading from $1,475 to $10,400, and the top early sale in our August 26 coverage was a $10,000 Rookie Real One Autograph Gold redemption.

The base set runs 450 cards across five rarity tiers, and a display box holds 36 packs of 8 cards with guaranteed foil and anniversary inserts. The ultra-rare chase cards, Mystical, Enigma, and Whoosh, fall between 1 in 540 and 1 in 4,320 packs, so a single 36-pack box is unlikely to reach one.

Cardlines dates the wider Topps Chrome Team Samurai Japan release to October 16, after the $149.99 online box sold out

The first run of 2026 Topps Chrome Team Samurai Japan went up on Topps.com on August 26 at $149.99 a box and sold out quickly, and Cardlines says boxes are already around $450 on eBay. The wider Collection release is scheduled for October 16, subject to change, with autographs falling about 1 in 10 boxes and 1 in 100 single packs. The presale's top chase card, per our August 22 coverage, was an Ohtani and Sadaharu Oh 1-of-1 dual auto.
