$11 million sale reported by Sports Collectors Digest and corroborated by ESPN, MLB.com, Bleacher Report, and Yahoo Sports, all ranking it the third-highest public sports card sale ever.

Shohei Ohtani 1-of-1 Gold Logoman auto sells for $11 million, third-highest card sale ever

The 1-of-1 Shohei Ohtani Back to Back Gold Logoman autograph, pulled from a 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball hobby box at Boca Sports Cards in Boca Raton, has sold for $11 million. The card carries two gold MLB Logoman patches, from Ohtani's September 7, 2025 and April 12, 2026 games, and is signed in both English and Kanji. Sports Collectors Digest names the buyer as the Secure portfolio, which it says includes Kevin O'Leary, Shyne, and Paul Warshaw. The desk led with this exact card on July 22, the day Topps Chrome Baseball dropped; what changed is that it has now been pulled and sold, landing behind only the Jordan/Kobe Exquisite dual Logoman ($12.9M) and a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle SGC 9.5 ($12.6M) on the all-time public list.

Named on Beckett's Hot List two weeks running, with #OS3 cited as the chase card (August 3, 2026 edition).

LeBron James tops Beckett's Hot List a second straight week after his 76ers signing

Beckett's weekly Hot/Cold List names LeBron hot again, tying the heat to his July 27 move to the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year deal after eight seasons in Los Angeles. Collectors are waiting on his first pack-pulled Sixers cards, and until they arrive Beckett points to the 2026-27 Topps Now Offseason #OS3 as the card to watch.

The Hobby Wire's August 2026 hobby-market roundup reports the rookie auto up 12% overnight after the deadline trade.

Adley Rutschman's 2023 Topps Chrome rookie auto jumps 12% after the Red Sox trade

The Red Sox landed catcher Adley Rutschman from the Orioles at the deadline, sending Carlos Narvaez and prospects the other way, and collectors moved on it fast. The Hobby Wire's August roundup clocks his 2023 Topps Chrome rookie autograph up 12 percent overnight, noting the community 'hasn't given up on this kid yet' even after a cooler 2026 at the plate. A rare in-season jump for a card that had gone quiet, driven by the change of scenery.

eBay's Q2 2026 earnings deck (August 6) names Collectibles, led by trading cards, its largest Focus Category GMV-growth contributor; 80M+ AI card scans logged, up from 15M+ about four months earlier.

eBay says Collectibles, led by trading cards, was its biggest driver of GMV growth in Q2

eBay used its Q2 2026 earnings call on August 6 to tell investors that Collectibles, led by trading cards, was the single largest contributor to its Focus Category GMV growth this quarter, with momentum across markets and subcategories. The deck says eBay has now run more than 80 million AI-powered card scans, up from the 15 million-plus it cited about four months earlier, and has wired Card Ladder's market indexes straight into the buying and selling flow so pricing data sits next to the listing. For collectors, that reads as the marketplace treating cards as a headline business rather than a niche: better scan tools and Card Ladder numbers where you actually shop. eBay also said first-time Live buyers who lean collectibles spent about 70 percent more than comparable non-Live buyers, with roughly half of that extra spend landing outside the Live events themselves.

Into packs August 6 and still unpulled three days later; Sports Cards Investor's Geoff Wilson revised the valuation from $1.5 million to $5 million, per ESPN.

Cooper Flagg's 1-of-1 rookie is still unpulled, and its valuation just jumped to $5 million

Cooper Flagg's one-of-one Rookie Debut Patch Autograph, from 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Basketball, went into packs on August 6 and still has not surfaced, which is exactly why the hobby cannot stop talking about it. The Mavericks have piled on a bounty for whoever pulls it: two premium lower-level season tickets for 32 years, a signed game-worn rookie jersey, a practice facility tour and a private session for 10, a package ESPN reports at high six figures to over $1 million. Sports Cards Investor's Geoff Wilson has since revised his valuation from $1.5 million to $5 million, calling it Flagg's best card and comparing it to Paul Skenes' 1-of-1 Rookie Debut Patch Auto that sold for $1.11 million last year. Three days in, nobody has hit it, so the chase is still on.

Named hot by Beckett's August 10 Hot List, with SI.com corroborating the streak still active through August 11.

Beckett names Royals rookie Jac Caglianone's cards hot on a .406 August start

Jac Caglianone opened August hitting .406 with three home runs across the Royals' first eight games, including a two-homer, two-double night against the Cubs that racked up 12 total bases, the most by a Royal since Lorenzo Cain in 2016. SI.com's Royals report backed the run a day later with a nine-game hitting streak at a 1.278 OPS, homer off Tarik Skubal included. The card collectors are chasing is his 2024 Bowman Draft Chrome Prospect Autographs #CPA-JC, the one Beckett pictures on its Hot List.

Steelers sell out of Drew Allar rookie jerseys after preseason debut

Third-round rookie Drew Allar went 10-for-13 for 153 yards with two passing touchdowns and a rushing score against Green Bay on August 13, and the Steelers Pro Shop sold out of his No. 16 jersey the same night. The team's shop confirmed it on X the next morning, adding that stock was already back. Yahoo Sports, Newsweek, and Onward State all reported the same sellout and restock. First Cub with back-to-back 30-30 seasons, completed in a live game August 17; rookie cards ranked among the top 15 baseball best-sellers over the prior 60 days per a July 31 Yahoo Sports report.

Pete Crow-Armstrong caps back-to-back 30-30 seasons with a walk-off, a Cubs first

Crow-Armstrong went 4-for-5 with two homers against the crosstown White Sox on August 17, and the second one, a two-run walk-off in the 10th, doubled as his 30th steal to complete a 30-30 season. He is the first Cub in franchise history to do it in back-to-back years, and only the 10th player in MLB history at all. His rookie cards were already moving before this: a July 31 Yahoo Sports market report tracked them among the top 15 best-sellers in baseball over the prior 60 days, and his top card, a 2020 Bowman Chrome Draft auto Red Refractor numbered to 5, has sold for $35,400. His Bowman Chrome rookies are where collectors are looking.

First player in MLB history to homer in his first three at-bats (per ESPN and CBS Sports); 12,000-plus Baez cards sold on eBay in one day per Sports Collectors Daily.

Joshua Baez homers in his first three MLB at-bats, a league first, and his cards move the same day

Cardinals rookie Joshua Baez went deep in each of his first three career at-bats against the Cubs on August 15, the first player in MLB history to do it (per ESPN and CBS Sports). The hobby moved within hours: a 2022 Bowman Chrome Superfractor PSA 9 bought under $10,000 in April sold for $17,000 half an hour after a price bump, and a Bowman Transcendent Superfractor auto (BGS 9.5) picked up for $117.17 in late 2024 changed hands at $14,000. Sports Collectors Daily counted more than 12,000 Baez cards sold on eBay that Saturday alone, and there are still roughly 6,000 listed today, including a fresh Topps NOW 'GEM-MT 10 3 HR MLB Debut' presale slab. Card Ladder index up 117.69% over six months, 12,950 to 28,179, per Heavy.com; a PSA 10 1992 Stadium Club Members Only #201 sold for $1,816.08 on August 19.

Heavy.com reports Shaq's Card Ladder index up 117.69% in six months, the largest gain of any tracked athlete

Shaquille O'Neal's Card Ladder index has gone from 12,950 to 28,179 over six months, a 117.69% climb and the biggest six-month move of any athlete with at least 100 tracked cards. The sharpest single example is a 1992 Stadium Club Members Only #201 in PSA 10, which sold for $1,816.08 on August 19 after going for $849 on July 30, against a two-year median of $324.50. Some of this week's attention traces to a claim posted August 18 by The Box Score PH that O'Neal had bought the Buss family's remaining Lakers stake; that claim is false and multiple outlets have debunked it, and the real pending transaction is Josh Kushner and Bob Iger's $12.5 billion purchase, which Jeanie Buss is contesting in part. Heavy.com is careful on the causation: there is no evidence the card's buyer acted on the rumor, and the six-month climb predates it.

Four separate Klay-to-Miami threads landed on r/nba's top-of-day board within hours of each other on August 26, timed with the No. 11 reveal and the Heat store's Klay Thompson listings going live.

r/nba surfaces Klay Thompson's first look in a Miami Heat uniform, wearing No. 11

Thompson signed a two-year deal worth roughly $13 million after Dallas bought out the final year of his contract, and at his August 25 introductory press conference he confirmed he will wear No. 11, not the 31 he wore with the Mavericks. The number change is the part that matters if you are buying: a Mavericks Klay and a Heat Klay are now two different jerseys, and neither one is the Warriors 11 most fans already own. The Heat store already lists four Klay Thompson swingman styles, Nike HEAT Culture, Original Vice, Association White, and Icon Black.

Fans lined up outside a special two-day team store sale more than a month after the signing, with youth jerseys selling out for part of the day, reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer on August 25.

Sixers run a special two-day store sale as fans line up for LeBron James jerseys, the Inquirer reports

The Xfinity Mobile Arena team store normally opens only on game days. It ran a special two-day sale because demand has not cooled, and fans lined up outside before it opened to buy James and Jaylen Brown jerseys, with a Sixers representative saying youth jerseys briefly sold out before stock was replenished later that day. Per Fanatics, LeBron's No. 23 is the best-selling jersey in the first 48 hours after any player switches teams in any sport, past the record Shohei Ohtani set moving to the Dodgers in 2023. This is the same jersey that sold out on Fanatics in about two hours in July, and he was still topping Beckett's Hot List a second straight week in early August.

Fanatics confirms Cooper Flagg's one-of-one Rookie Debut Patch auto for Fanatics Collect's September 10-24 Premier Auction

The card is a Topps Chrome Update Basketball Rookie Debut Patch autograph, the only one of its kind, signed by Flagg and carrying the patch he wore in his Mavericks debut on October 22. It was pulled on August 10 by Rhode Island shop Baseball Cards of RI during its RhodyBreakers live stream and set off a buying frenzy; owner Parker J. Asel described the pull on CNN, then turned down a $3.6 million bid on Alt before this placement. The Press Herald reports it could fetch over $5 million. 18,000 units, a line forming hours before gates in the rain, and $250 eBay presales cooling to $60 to $100 by Thursday night, per The Athletic's August 28 report.

Yankees cap the George Costanza calzone bobblehead at 18,000 as eBay presales reach $250

The third annual Seinfeld giveaway puts Costanza in a Yankees letterman jacket holding the half-eaten calzone from the episode of the same name, and fans stood in the rain for hours before Thursday's game to get one of the 18,000 units. Yankees SVP of marketing Debbie Tymon said 18,000 is the team's standard threshold and "drives the collectability of the item." Presales promising a bobblehead ran as high as $250 on eBay before the gates opened, then Thursday night's sales settled between $60 and $100. Wembanyama's 18 points close out Sweden 84-69, and r/nba runs three threads on one game

France trailed 65-64 with five minutes left at Avicii Arena, then closed on a 20-4 run to beat Sweden 84-69 in FIBA World Cup 2027 European qualifying, in front of a record Swedish basketball crowd of 14,750. Wembanyama shot 6-of-7 for 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists and a steal in 30 minutes, Miami Heat guard Pelle Larsson led Sweden with 23, and France improved to 7-1 atop Group L. The collector tell is how the community moved: r/nba's top-of-day list carried three separate highlight threads from this one game, each posted independently within hours of tip-off rather than one thread piling up routine traffic. The one-of-one 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Rookie Debut Patch Autograph of Cooper Flagg, pulled in Rhode Island by RhodyBreakers on August 10-11 from a $515 Mavericks break spot, now has a real bid on it. Listed as Coming Soon on Panini America's first-party catalog with a live countdown reading 19 hours at the August 31 check, and no date stated on the page. Confirms the product, not the timing.

Panini's Coming Soon page shows a 19-hour countdown on the 2026 Prizm FIFA World Cup Hobby Preferred box

Panini America's own upcoming-products catalog carries the 2026 Panini Prizm FIFA World Cup 2026 Trading Card Box (Hobby Preferred), and the timer on it read 00 days, 19 hours, 00 mins, 12 secs when we checked on August 31. The page gives no calendar release date and no price, and there is nothing to preorder yet: the alert signup is the only action available. Panini's World Cup card programs run past the tournament itself, with the higher-end configurations arriving after the final, so a listing appearing now is current rather than stale. A separate Prizm World Cup box page exists on the same site, but we could not confirm it as this Hobby Preferred configuration, so it is not linked here.

September 10, 2026 stated as an estimated and explicitly unconfirmed release date, with six box formats listed, on Checklist Insider's product page.

Checklist Insider estimates September 10 for 2026-27 Topps Match Attax UEFA Club Competitions, the line's 20th year

The new UEFA Club Competitions cycle marks 20 years of Match Attax, and Checklist Insider lists it in Display Boxes, Mega Tin Boxes, Booster Tin Boxes, Multi-Pack Boxes, Starter Packs, and Countdown Calendar Boxes. The September 10 date is explicitly an estimate, not confirmed by Topps. No manufacturer price is stated; the page shows secondary UK eBay listings only. Match Attax is the cheap entry point that pulls in casual soccer fans rather than card collectors, so the Starter Packs and Countdown Calendar are the formats worth watching if you are buying for someone else.

r/baseballcards makes the case for Leaf after a $95 box breaks big

A collector posted pulls from a $95 2026 Leaf Baseball Nation hobby box and a $170 2025 Leaf Optichrome jumbo box: a Bushwacker 1/1 superfractor, a Fergie Jenkins/Jim Palmer/Jim Kaat triple auto, an Ethan Holliday /10 auto, and a Sammy Sosa/Andre Dawson dual auto. The argument, echoed across the thread, is that the unlicensed brand gets bashed harder than it deserves given the on-card ink and real signatures you get for the money. Repeat commenters call the products highly underrated for auto collectors, pointing to name-brand autos like a Konnor Griffin pulled for a fraction of a Topps equivalent.

A collector cracks a 2003 Topps Chrome Ichiro Black Refractor /199 out of a 23-year-old pack

A r/baseballcards poster bought a mixed lot of about 80 packs from 2002 to 2006 for a couple of dollars each and opened one pack from every series of 2003 Topps Chrome. Sitting under an Ichiro Suzuki base card in the Series 1 pack was an Ichiro Black Refractor, numbered 89/199, a card that fell about one per box across 220 cards a series. The poster says the condition looks great, and the thread lit up over the value gap against what the packs cost.

r/SoccerJerseys Surfaces a Sponsorless Barcelona 2022-23 Home Shirt

A collector surfaced a new-with-tags, authentic Barcelona 2022-23 Nike home shirt with no Spotify sponsor logo, and other Barca fans in the thread agreed the sponsorless version is genuinely hard to find. The gap exists because Barcelona's Spotify deal was announced in March 2022, after Nike had already begun producing the 2022-23 kits, so early-production and non-European-market shirts shipped clean. If you own one, you own a scarcer variant than the standard sponsored run.

A r/SoccerJerseys collector shows a 1996/97 Liverpool away shirt with the woven Liverbird

A collector shared a Liverpool 1996/97 away shirt: Reebok, Carlsberg on the front, Fowler #9 on the back. The detail worth the post is the Liverbird woven into the fabric, easy to miss unless you know to look for it. Peak Reebok-era Liverpool for the vintage shelf.

r/baseballcards poster digs 2018 Shohei Ohtani cards out of a childhood box and asks the room what to do

Going through cards they collected as a kid, the poster pulled the 2018 Ohtanis aside because Ohtani was the only name they recognized. They looked them up and put the group at roughly $300 to $400 ungraded, their own figure, and there are about 200 more cards of players they cannot place still sitting in the box. The thread is the useful part: collectors talking a newcomer through what a rookie-year run of a still-active superstar is and is not.
